After much trial and error, this is the best honey mustard dressing I have made! I’ve tried many variations, and this is by far my favorite. Not only is this recipe easy and delicious, it is on the “healthier” side with a base of olive oil instead of mayonnaise. I do add some mayo for added texture and creaminess, but you can choose to omit it completely if you’d like to make it even healthier.
Ingredients
Ready to make this honey mustard dressing recipe? Here’s what you’ll need:
- Dijon mustard – My favorite is the “Maille” french brand. Trader Joe’s has a great one too! This will give the dressing depth and the perfect flavor.
- Stone ground mustard – Not everyone adds this to their honey mustard, but I think it’s a MUST! Not only does it add great flavor, but the specks and color make it that much more appetizing!
- Honey – This gives the dressing it’s hint of sweetness and classic honey-mustard flavor.
- Extra-virgin olive oil – This is my preference over a mayo base. This makes it rich without making it too heavy!
- Apple cider vinegar – This adds the tang!
- Lemon juice – See above!
- Garlic – Everything needs garlic… this bumps up the flavor.
- Mayonnaise – I do like a creamy honey mustard, I just don’t like it too thick and rich. Adding just a touch of mayo gives it a slightly creamier base without being overbearing.
- Salt and pepper – Enhances all of the flavors!
I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does!

I love to pair this with a cobb salad with crispy chicken on top, but it would be great on any salad!
